Steven M. Mansmith has been named the new general manager at The Drake Hotel in Oak Brook.
Mansmith, former food and beverage director for the Hotel Arista in Naperville, brings nearly 30 years of hospitality experience with him. He also served as the executive assistant manager, overseeing hotel operations, for the luxury Magnificent Mile property, Conrad Chicago.
Mansmith started full-time in the industry in 1993 after he completed his studies and earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel Administration at the University of Nevada — Las Vegas while also completing an internship at the Las Vegas Hilton.
Mansmith has spent most of his career successfully working his way through various food and beverage operations. Over the years he has been honored numerous times at various locations with the Manager of the Quarter and Commitment Awards.
Mansmith was born in Naperville, which is where he currently resides. He moved around quite a bit as a child, so he has lived in Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Nevada.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family. He is married to Kristen who teaches locally at Metea Valley High School. They have three daughters and a son. Mansmith also enjoys watching and participating in sports from football to hockey, bowling to basketball. His favorite professional teams are from Chicago and Philadelphia, but his longest loyalty resides with the University of Michigan.
He believes in supporting great causes and giving back to others so he is active in his local community serving various organizations such as homeless shelters. He also is routinely involved in church activities and has taken three international mission trips to support the less fortunate in Central America. On his third trip, he shared this experience with his two oldest daughters.
